Peter Neal

Co-founder

Peter is a Chartered Engineer with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and Business Economics. He was an offshore installation manager in the North Sea and an offshore inspector with the Health and Safety Executive. Peter has global experience in high-hazard industries and combines his technical expertise with a human-centred approach to safety leadership education and investigating major incidents worldwide. Outside work, he enjoys traveling, hiking, cycling, and family life.

Chris Trodd

Associate

Chris has led safety in high-risk sectors from front-line roles to senior leadership, including Director of HSEQ for a major UK utility. He helps organisations build resilient safety cultures that focus on people as well as processes. In his free time, Chris enjoys hiking, rugby, and beekeeping.

Mark Birchenhough

Associate

Mark is a graduate from Oxford University and has a MSc in Management Science. Mark specialises in leadership and culture in high hazard industries. He has worked at Board level with organisations in a range of construction, shipping and rail operators. He is currently a non-executive director for a major construction company. In his spare time he enjoys cycling and skiing.

Stuart Foster

Associate

Stuart is a graduate who has held senior international executive roles in a range of high hazard companies including Vice President for a global energy company. He has demonstrated his ability to lead directly and through influence in complex organisations by building teams capable of effecting rapid change in performance and culture. Outside work he enjoys challenging cycle rides around the Surrey Hills and helps charity organisations.

Gilsa Monteiro

Associate

Gilsa is a chemical engineer who has nineteen years of experience working with a major offshore oil and gas operator in Brazil. She supervised a team of process safety specialists supporting offshore operations. During this period, she developed a range of process safety training courses for delivery in-house. She was the company representative on CCPS and IOGP committees that developed process safety standards for implementation in their members' global operations. She has a DSc in Safety Analysis within Nuclear Engineering and worked as a visiting researcher with Professor Andrew Hopkins at the Australian National University. She has written several published papers and delivered insightful presentations at conferences. Gilsa speaks fluent Portuguese and English. In her spare time she enjoys travel and exploring new cultures.

Chris Hamlin

Associate

Chris graduated from Cambridge University and is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering with an early-career background in process plant operations as specialist controls engineer and project manager. Subsequently, Chris co-founded an innovative company (HancockHamlin) that applies complex systems thinking to organisations in the high hazard sector. He offers objective and practical evaluations of the challenges and opportunities faced by site leadership teams. He assists leaders at all levels to manage their operations to understand the wider perspective of the multiple internal and external factors that can impact risk. His bespoke training programmes are popular, successful and engage leaders.

Scott Moffat

Scott is an experienced human factors and ergonomics specialist. After graduation he taught psychology and sociology. He has a varied career which included working offshore doing demanding, manual and hazardous tasks. This gave Scott a practical grounding in understanding the importance of non-technical skills in the prevention of major accident events. He regularly travels offshore and to process plants where he conducts workshops on toolbox talks, improving communication during shift handovers, effective leadership conversations and understanding team performance when under stress. To relax Scott loves walking his dog in the Scottish Highlands and watching sport.

Anne O’Reilly

Anne is a business development expert and experienced leadership coach. Her initial career was in the financial sector where she learned the importance of balancing compliance and risk-based decision making. As an independent consultant she works across many industries in interim director roles and as a non-executive director. She has an excellent understanding about how leadership and organisation culture determine successful business outcomes. In her spare time Anne travels, plays golf and enjoys time with her family.

Paul Singh

Paul is a mathematician and chemical engineer. He is an experienced manager with wide-ranging roles in technical, process operations, contracts, supply and logistics on high-hazard process plants. Paul has worked in Canada, Europe and Middle East. He specialises in Big Data, digitalisation and ML applied to hazardous operations. Paul was awarded a PhD for his innovative work in digitalisation and its pilot application on live process plant.

Tony Atherton

Tony is an experienced trainer who has designed and delivered leadership programmes across a wide range of sectors. He has worked in Europe, USA, China, India and the Middle East. In the major hazard sector he has worked in renewable energy and mining. He is an advocate of human-centred approach to leadership and has experience of how it can be applied across different cultures with successful results. In his spare time Tony is board trustee for a student union at his local university and chairman of a non-league football club.
